V-nails cannot be hammered in - they must be inserted with suitable tools.

The mitred mouldings need to be clamped firmly together, using a band clamp or corner clamp.

A V-nail of suitable length (max 2/3 the height of the moulding) is placed vertically on the end of the magnetic tip, sharp edge down.
The point of the V should be on the moulding join line. Pull the lever steadily down to squeeze in the v-nail.
You'll find it helpful to make up three blocks of suitable height to support the other three corners while joining a frame.

The Kimberley is the ideal manual underpinner for high-quality, low volume framing. Your mitred mouldings are clamped individually in the smooth faced jaws and can be adjusted for perfect alignment.

The pressure head with adjustable pressure pad is adjusted both ways to perfectly suit the moulding. Then, the appropriate height of v-nail, typically 2/3 the height of the moulding, is placed, sharp edge up, on the magnetic feed and slid into place. The clever design means that this is always exactly under the pressure pad. Firm pressure on the lever lets you squeeze the v-nail up into the moulding.

The Kimberley takes mouldings up to 75mm wide and 48mm tall. Taller mouldings up to 70mm can be accommodated with the triangular aluminium plate supplied. It weighs 10.5kg and can easily be stored in a cupboard. Full instructions included.
