Matting for Wet Paper

Random spun-bonded polyester fibre matting which allows instant drainage of water. Whenever you are immersing any kind of paper in water, it will soften and weaken. Use this to handle it easily without risk of damage. 750mm x 5m app.

Powerful but safe solvent for softening and removing awkward self-adhesive tape, labels and residues from paper.

Apply with a brush. If the item being removed is porous, paint the solvent onto the surface, let it soak in, then gently peel off. If the tape is impervious, you can tease up a corner and brush it into the revealed edge, or even paint it onto the underside of the paper, and let it soak through.

Use with care in a well ventilated area. Sometimes a brown residue stain will remain. 60ml bottle.

A non-adhesive artwork locating method. Each archival See-Thru is a strip of 25mm polyester with a narrower strip of acid-free card bonded to it. Inset from the inner edge of the card, to eliminate the possibility of leaching or creep, is a band of pressure sensitive adhesive.

The item to be mounted is laid in position on an acid-free backing board. The strips are then positioned as appropriate around the item, and cut to length if necessary.

The strips hold the item in place, without any adhesive touching the artwork.

Acid-neutral liquid adhesive with excellent lay-flat property and dries clear. It is based on polyvinyl alcohol (PvOH). It is fast setting, re-moistenable and can sometimes be reversible.

Formulated especially for conservation and restoration work, and will not become brittle with age. May be used with fabrics, but take care and test first.

Do not use on art or photos.

For consolidating paper fibres to ensure adhesive gives a good bond. 12mm PTFE roller in a stainless steel chassis. Use with a polyester sheet between it and the tissue surface.

Acid-free and reversible with water. Mixture of water soluble polyvinyl alcohol and cellulose ether adhesives. Sachets each make up to 1 litre with cold water - stir powder into water until you have the texture of wallpaper paste.

Place mounted items under weights to dry. It will not bio-degrade after mixing, so can be kept for a reasonable period in an airtight container in the fridge.
