9938 Hoffmann MU3 D Manual Router with Digital Reader and W2 bit

Heavier duty for higher volume work. Heavy cast aluminium construction with large, ergonomically shaped table surface, precision linear bearings, galvanized steel motor carriage and an integrated motor fine adjustment with optional extension tables.

MU3D includes a digital reader for quick and accurate set-up of routing cycles.

The Hoffmann Dovetail Router works differently - while a V Nail has to compress or displace timber, the Hoffmann Router removes timber to form a slot in each face of the mitre. Moulded double dovetail keys are then tapped into the slot for a right, permanent join.

This Hoffmann MU3 D Manual Router with Digital Reader is supplied with a W2 router bit, solid tungsten carbide with a life of around 10,000 strokes. W0 and W1 are sold separately. Hoffmanns requre a standard 13a power suppler and commercial grade vacuum cleaner for dust extraction. MU3P models require a compressed air supply.

MU3 is a professional level, manually operated dovetail routing machine. Heavy cast aluminium construction with large ergonomically designed table surface. Precision linear bearings, galvanised steel motor carriage with integrated fine motor adjustment and digital display for routing height and routing location.

The keyway location is adjusted by positioning the guided centre fence plate on the machine table. The key way length, (routing height) is adjusted by setting a height-stop rod to the desired setting. On the MU 3-D both positions are shown on digital displays for accuracy and readability.

• Padded hold-down plate secures workpiece and motor switches on

• Pulling further advances the router head until pre-set height is reached

• Releasing handle returns motor to park and cuts motor

• Hold-down releases moulding

Max routing height: 85mm, Max moulding height: 150mm  Made in Germany

How does a Hoffmann Router work?

- Set the router depth using the digital reader on the MU3D.

- Position the slot - lay a mitred piece on the bed and line up the slot location with the digital reader for quick and repeatable setup.

- Place the mitred piece to be routed on the left side of the bed with the rebate facing away.

- To start the machining cycle, pull the lever for MU3D.

- Padded hold-down plate / pneumatic clamp secures moulding and motor is switched on. Continued pulling / foot pressure advances the router head until pre-set height is reached.

- Release the lever to return the router to its home position, shut off the motor and release the moulding. Pneumatic models return automatically.

- Move the mitred piece to the right side of the bed to rout the other end. Repeat for all four mitred pieces.

- Assemble the frame by placing the first two pieces fast down, inserting the key and tapping it home with a soft face hammer. Repeat to complete the frame.
