For lining the rebate of wood and aluminium frames, holds glass and mirror firmly in the frame

Use: Fixing objects in box frames, making multiple-layer 3D mounts

Benefits: Very sticky, foam conforms to shape of object.

Lining the rebate of wood and aluminium frames with Volara black foam tape helps protect canvases, digital media and most kinds of art by providing a cushion and a seal.

Volara stops glass and the framing materials sticking to the moulding. It seals the glass in frames, helping minimise dust and insects entering the frame.

The cushioning effect also reduces the risk of glass cracking in travelling show frames.

Volara Rebate tape is made from closed cell, inert black polyethylene foam. 0.8mm thick, 6mm wide on 33m / 108ft roll. It has a stable high tack acrylic adhesive acrylic adhesive.

Supplier ref: 018-1436  Made in USA

Using Volara rebate tape: It shapes and cuts easily. Cut to the inside length of the two long and two short pieces of moulding. Fold them a little less than lip width, usually around 6mm / ¼”, face side to face side. Use a bone burnishing tool on the fold.

Remove backing tape and press into place against lip and rebate, then burnish to secure. Volara can be a bit tricky when you first use it but gives peace of mind and protection to the art in a high-end frame.

Working with self-adhesive materials in cold weather? When the temperature drops remember to let self-adhesive tapes, PVA glues, boards and mounting films come up to room temperature before using them. Keep them that way for a few hours after application while the adhesives cure. Do not let PVA adhesives freeze.
