One of the most common questions our customer service team answers is 'How do I work out what size to order L Style profiles on Chop Service?'. It might seem baffling at first, but we promise - it's really quite simple.
You're essentially making a tray that the stretched canvas will sit inside. You'll usually want the tray to be a bit bigger than the canvas so there's a 'shadow gap' around the artwork which just looks better than the frame being tight to the canvas - but it's not compulsory.
A 10mm shadow gap all round generally works well. So add 20mm in each dimension to the size of the canvas - that's the size you order. We cut the moulding to the inside edge of the 'L'.
If you don't want a shadow gap then just order the exact size of your canvas - although you might want to allow a couple of mm wriggle room.
