Your workshop is all set up with a Morso and underpinner - so you'd be crazy to you pay us to cut and rout your moulding ready for joining… wouldn't you? Certainly there's plenty of occasions when cutting and joining frames yourself makes sense - when the frame uses one of your stock mouldings, or if it's a job lot of the same frame. However, there are other times when Chop + Rout might be the best option for your cashflow and your work schedule:

When it's a one-off: You've helped your client choose one of our more creative mouldings and it pairs perfectly with their artwork… but are you likely to get another order for it in the next few months? If the answer is no, any offcuts are just going to tie up your cash. Ordering on chop is great for your cashflow - and having it routed will save you time setting your underpinner up to join an unfamiliar moulding.

When it's borderline whether you'll need one length or two: It's a 500mm x 400mm frame - you might get away with one length but you don't want to end up without enough so will probably order two to be on the safe side… Even if it turns out you did need the second length, you'll probably have a large offcut which will sit on your rack, locking up cash until you have time to turn it into a sellable frame. Ordering an exact amount on Chop Service removes the guesswork and looks after your cash.

When you only need one length: It's a smallish frame and you'll only need one length - so it just makes sense to order securely packaged on Chop Service.

When you're on a tight deadline: When you order frames on Chop + Rout you can open them and join them in seconds - no measuring, no setting up your underpinner. You can even delegate the job to someone with less experience - if they can use a hammer, they can join a frame!

When you want to reduce waste: Paying your waste contractor to take away moulding costs you twice over. Even though the up-front cost of Chop is higher, you turn all the moulding into cash the minute your client pays for the frame, with no hidden costs of disposal and nothing going to waste.
